    3. What is RSS? (Really Simple's as easy as it sounds)

RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or other media. An RSS document, contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that's easier than checking them manually.

RSS content can be read using software called a "feed reader" (google offers a reasonable feed reader) or an "aggregator." Around The Outpost we prefer to use Pageflakes as our aggregator and start page with RSS feeds from many of our favorite websites.

You can subscribe to a feed by manually entering the feed's link into the feed reader or by clicking a link on a website that initiates the subscription process. The feed reader checks your subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds, so you don't have to.

Don't forget, you can also use our RSS feeds to add free content to your website. Feed Digest is one service that makes this incredibly easy.

If you're interested in more information on using RSS to get content sent right to you, Feedburner has a wonderful and informative writeup, as well as examples of other RSS feeds that may interest you.

    4. Do I have to worry about my privacy?

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. We use your e-mail address/contact information solely for our weekly newsletter and other important updates from the network. We will never sell or otherwise use your contact information for any other purpose.
